How Far Before Your Wedding Should You Order a Custom Suit?

How far in advance should you order a custom wedding suit?

Order eight to twelve weeks before the wedding. Made-to-measure needs four to eight weeks plus fittings; full bespoke needs eight to twelve. Add two extra weeks for destination weddings and for coordinating a wedding party.

    The recommended window

Twelve weeks is comfortable. Eight weeks is workable. Under six weeks, the options narrow and rush handling may apply. The constraint is rarely the making — it is the fittings, and the time between them.

    What each stage takes

A typical schedule, counting backwards from the wedding date.

    • Weeks 12–10: consultation, fabric selection, design and measurements
    • Weeks 9–5: the garment is made
    • Weeks 4–3: first fitting and adjustments
    • Week 2: final fitting and finishing
    • Week 1: garment collected, pressed and ready

    Add time for these situations

Destination weddings require the whole schedule to finish before you travel. A wedding party of six or more needs an extra two weeks for measurement collection. Rare or special-order cloth can add three to four weeks on its own.

If the wedding is sooner than that

Short timelines are workable with made-to-measure in an in-stock cloth and a simplified fitting schedule. Speak to us early rather than assuming it cannot be done — but expect fewer fabric choices.
